New CYN Program Offerings in 2014

Community Youth Network is known for offering a variety of services to meet the needs of its diverse clientele. In addition to general counseling CYN also offers group counseling for adults and teenagers, play therapy for children, offender treatment, trauma treatment, the LIFE program, Alternative to Suspension and community outreach.

Community Youth Network is unique in offering an Employee Assistance Program to area employers. Through Lifespan EAP employees are eligible for 6 free counseling session and businesses may request trainings and consultations. (See story on page 2)

In 2014 CYN will begin a new “Sexting” program for teenagers. Sexting is the act of sending sexually inappropriate photos or comments through text messages or social networking sites. The problem has increased as more students gain access to cell phones and mobile devices without adult supervision.

The six to eight sessions will not only address how sexting can have long term effects on the adolescent’s current life, from bullying to self esteem, but also how it can impact their future including college and job opportunities. The program will also address other sexually inappropriate activities in order to prevent the escalation of problem behaviors.
