Raise the Roof - Update on Planned Renovations

The CYN building in Grayslake on 18640 Belvidere (Rt. 120) was built in 1978 and CYN has exclusively utilized the offices since 1992. In 2008 Community Youth Network bought the building and in order to increase revenue the 4 2-bedroom apartments above the office are rented out.

The inside of the building remains warm and inviting, thanks to the devoted counselors and caring office staff. Unfortunately, the outside of the building and the grounds are in desperate need of TLC. The primary improvements include adding energy efficient windows to reduce heating costs and improve client comfort and replacing the siding. Depending on the size of the job the building may lose its unique Tudor façade.

In addition to the renovations that must be done the CYN staff has a separate wish list that includes new couches for clients to sit on during counseling sessions and a more visible sign. With the amount of daily traffic on Route 120 a sign outside of the CYN building would greatly help clients find us.

One renovation that has happily been completed is the updating of the play therapy room. CYN specializes in offering services to children and the playroom has its own dollhouse and giant stuffed animals to put young clients at ease.

Although the Raise the Roof event brought in a good amount of money there are many things left on the To Do list including painting the walls and repaving the parking lot. Visit our website to stay up to date on the ongoing Raise the Roof Renovation Project
